Episode 1 & 2 : The Search for Tutankhamun.


These episodes deal with the search for & discovery of Tutankhamun’s treasure laden Tomb by Howard Carter, his funding by Lord Carnarvon and the popular belief that the Curse of the Pharaohs came with its opening. The story of Carter's quest is interrupted at various points with short biographical segments on the life of Tutankhamun & the circumstances of his reign & death.

Episode 3 & 4 : The Pharaoh & The Showman


These episodes tell the story of Italian engineer and circus strongman Giovanni Belzoni who became the most unlikely Egyptologist the world has ever seen. Turning up numerous great finds he always found himself travelling in the footsteps of Ramesses the Great & flashbacks to the Pharaoh's life are intercut into the story.

Episodes 5 & 6 : The Mystery Of The Rosetta Stone.


These episodes show how Jean-Francois Champolion, used the Egyptian Coptic language & Rosetta Stone to unlock the mysteries of the lost civilisation of Ancient Egypt which had been closed off to Europeans for centuries. The stone had been created as a work of propaganda by the Greek speaking Pharaoh Ptolemy V to extol his virtues and underline his claim to the throne. and flashbacks are included to explain this belief system.
